This is really a pretty astonishingly bad product. The 3D pictures are all terrible conversions of 2D images. Most of the images have maybe two or three flat planes separated in z-space. The conversions were pretty clearly done in a hurry by someone with not a lot of experience doing high-quality 3D conversions.It's possible to do 3D conversions that are essentially indistinguishable from images that were generated in 3D in the computer or on the set, but why did they use conversions in the first place? Avatar is a 3D movie! If you're doing a high-priced coffee-table book of 3D images from a big-budget 3D movie, is it too much to ask that they actually get 3D stills directly from the filmmakers rather than doing cheap conversions? What were they thinking?
If you just want a big Avatar book with lots of pictures, this is perfectly OK. But if you're looking for something with 3D quality similar to the movie, this is absolutely not worth buying.

As Don Munsil noted in his review, this book has bad anaglyphic 3D images in it. I literally make 100% better 3D photos than what is displayed in this book. Unfortunately, I did not look at reviews before purchasing a copy on eBay. Being that the movie had fantastic 3D qualities, I fully expected the book to be on par to it. What a let down. Examining the images, the issue looks like it might be that the left and right scenes were reversed, causing the objects appear to have a cut-out quality to them instead of getting true depth or projection. If anyone wants to see how perfect anaglyphic 3D scenes from "Avatar" looks, head over to Flickr and search for me as "Phaota2". I have a gallery of 96 image converted directly from the side-by-side 3D version of the Blu-ray. I've also done tons of other films and miscellaneous imagery as well in various other albums. As for book, it it beautifully made with looks a great images and information, as well as lots of fun little collectible playing cards, five stickers, three gate-fold 3D images with 2D versions on the backside and a bioluminescence panel (that doesn't work). If you want a book that describes the whole movie from beginning to end with lots of excellent images, then you'll like it. Just don't expect the 3D to be exceptional, because definitely isn't.
I thought it was a 3D blu-ray. actually, it is a bit-fish type products. dont buy it. and just dont buy it.
Wow, I was so excited to finally get the Avatar 3d movie. Little did I know that I would get a book instead... I really thought I had bought the movie. In the description it said Avatar 3D Collector's Vault... no mention of "book" in the title. What a disappointment. As I removed the book from it's cover, still thinking it would contain the 3d movie, a lot of Avatar "bookmarks" fell out. It looks to me like it had been used before. I would like to know why a book is even listed under the 3d movies collection. What a sham... I hate having been taken for a ride. I guess I should have read the real fine print.
I cannot file in the items above as this book is a birthday gift for my grandson. I do believe he will love it.
Thought it was a movie. But gave it away for christmas. Nice book.
The book was fairly detailed like a collectors guide for the movie. The 3-D pictures weren't very great a little bit more blurrier than what I had expected. Overall condition from buyer was not so great but not that damaged either. The cover was peeling, pages were sticking, stickers were creased, and cards for an avatar deck set were missing as well. If buying new I suggest not too because in my opinion it's a little overpriced...not gonna go in detail but you can buy way cheaper books used by other people in mint condition as well.
